Known as the Wayne Oil Tank Company back then, Wayne has been shaping the fueling industry since they designed their first pump in 1891. From the very beginning Wayne developed a reputation for quality. In fact, this inaugural product won the distinction of “The Best Self Measuring Oil Pump” at an Exposition in Chicago just two years later. Once the motor vehicle entered the scene, Wayne’s purpose and mission was solidified – to create a reliable, accurate way for motorists to refuel cars.
After the introduction of our first gasoline pump in 1907, the company grew quickly over the following years. They opened a plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1910, and in 1918, introduced the first “visible” pump so motorists could see and control the amount of gas going into their tanks. It was one of the first of many industry-changing products. Wayne would go on to introduce the mechanical computing dispenser, the blending pump, the electronic dispenser and the first Customer Activated Terminal (CAT), a product that heralded the age of self service and pay-at-the-pump.
As the company grew in product development and innovation, Wayne also grew in size and global scope. With offices on five continents, manufacturing facilities on four, and thousands of employees worldwide, Wayne has shaped the fueling industry ever since its modest beginnings. Now headquartered in Austin, Texas, Wayne is largely responsible for the innovations that contribute to the look and functionality of the modern service station. From dispensers and POS systems to retail intelligence and after-sale support services, Wayne is committed to continuing its long tradition of providing innovative, customer-centric solutions in all facets of the industry.
Wayne has announced the launch of inOvationTV, a TV screen in the pump, working in conjunction with Gas Station TV (GSTV), America’s #1 video network, that enables fuel retailers to inform and entertain motorists at the pump with programming that includes ESPN sports, HLN news and entertainment, Bloomberg and financial updates, AccuWeather, on- site promotions and original programming that also includes C-store promotions. The program includes system installation and maintenance and six years of technical support. The inOvationTV will improve the fueling experience of their customers and boost revenues.
